The first Versys 650 was a middleweight dual-purpose road bike built on the twin-cylinder Ninja 650R engine, sold as the KLE650 Versys. It combined an upright riding position, a 41 mm inverted front fork and a single offset rear shock, aimed at touring and everyday use rather than sport riding. This 2007-08 version is the base model that later Versys 650 years were developed from.
